July’s Bounty

During July we stayed busy with 123 nights of stay and 18 different families. One of our donors sent a healthy Qualified Charitable Donation (QCD) and also made a commitment to name Amy’s House as a bequest in her will. Another donor, who has been donating monthly, also decided that the bulk of his estate will come to Amy’s House upon his death. Our chief aim at Amy’s House is to be certain that we do our part in helping people overcome leukemia or succeed in their transplant journey. Unfortunately, there have been some deaths among our patrons (though not in the house), and some of those deaths have been keenly felt by the staff. We come to know and love our guests, especially those who visit often or stay a long time. Besides providing them a refuge from hospital life and tending to their basic needs, we have watched their battles, listened to their problems, and tried to console them if things take a turn for the worse.
