Organ donation is
personal to us.
Amy’s House is named after Amy Henderson Firth, who died suddenly in November 2012. Because Amy had chosen to be a donor, she lives on in the lives of at least 70 other people. Amy was the beloved younger daughter of two members of TRIO Central Texas Chapter. She was intelligent, loving, and generous. Always an honor student, Amy was also a varsity cheerleader at Copperas Cove High School. She received a Bachelor’s Degree at University of Texas San Antonio and a Master’s Degree from Baylor University in Waco. After graduation she worked in the public schools and private companies as a speech therapist. She had a heart for children and worked hard to help her young patients, many of whom suffered from autism. She and her husband, Michael, have a son and a daughter whom she loved dearly. Amy supported her children’s endeavors in baseball and gymnastics as well as encouraging them to be great students in school. TRIO Central Texas Chapter is proud to name the house after such a beautiful soul.

AMY’S HOUSE FOUNDATION
Amy’s House is owned and operated by Amy’s House Foundation which is an independent non-profit. Amy’s House was founded by Transplant Recipients International Organization (TRIO) Central Texas Chapter, which exists to help transplant patients and their families, support donor families, and promote donor awareness. Even though the two organizations are now separate, their goals are identical, and TRIO serves as an advocate for Amy’s House.
Amy’s House Foundation received its 501(c)(3) in December of 2023. The house is supported strictly through grants, gifts, and guest donations. The purpose of the house is to provide affordable, sanitary, safe, and comfortable lodging to people going through the transplant journey. Amy’s House Foundation is responsible for creating policy for Amy’s House and ensuring the financial stability of the house. The Foundation also works very closely with TRIO Central Texas Chapter to promote donor awareness by having representation at health fairs and other pertinent events and providing programs about organ and tissue transplantation to various civic and religious organizations.
