We welcome referrals from physicians, nurses, social workers, and other medical professionals!

We offer medically-clean, wholesome, temporary housing for prospective, current, or former solid organ transplant recipients, live donors, caregivers, family and drivers. We are located just east of the Baylor Scott & White Health campus in Temple, TX.

Who can stay at Amy’s House?

Guests who stay at Amy’s House usually fall into one of the following categories: 

  • Prospective, current, or former solid organ transplant recipients

  • Prospective, current, or former solid organ live donors

  • Those who support patients in either of the categories listed above, such as family, caregivers, and drivers

What age patients does Amy’s House accept?

Patients of any age may stay at Amy’s House, provided they have an adequate caregiver with them. Amy’s House does not provide caregiving or nursing care.

Is Amy’s House a part of Baylor Scott & White Health?

No, Amy’s House operates as a service of Transplant Recipients International Organization, Central Texas Chapter, which is a Texas-registered organization and a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization approved by the IRS. Amy’s House works closely with the transplant team and the social workers of Baylor Scott & White.

What do we do about food while staying at Amy’s House?

Amy’s House provides a kitchen and a dining room that guests may use. Guests are responsible for obtaining and preparing their own food, and for cleaning up after food preparation and after meals. Amy’s House does keep a stock of healthy snacks and other food. Grocery stores and restaurants are near Amy’s House by car, but not within walking distance. Uber and Lyft services are available, when needed.

What are the eligibility requirements to stay at Amy’s House as a family member, caregiver, or driver?

To stay at Amy’s House, caregivers, family members, and vehicle drivers must:

  • Be at least 16-years-old

  • Have no known communicable diseases

  • Pass a Covid-19 screening review

  • Consent to a background check

  • Complete a liability agreement

  • Follow the House rules

How affordable is Amy’s House?

Donations are requested to help with expenses of operating Amy’s House. Families who are able to do so often donate $50 or more per room per night. We realize that medical care for families on the transplant journey can cause financial hardship. We work with social workers and the families to determine an affordable solution for their situation.

Is shuttle service provided between Amy’s House and Baylor Scott & White Medical Center?

Monday through Friday, the Baylor Scott, & White shuttle service will pick up and return patients, family members, and caregivers to and from Amy’s House.  At least 20 minutes in advance on the day of service, calls to 254-724-2216 can be made to request the shuttle service.  Uber and Lyft services can also be contacted by the patient and family.
